The Holocaust Museum in Dallas

Today I took a friend, from out of state, to The Holocaust Museum in North Dallas.  It is not an experience you really want to “share” with anyone.  We both gave each other privacy as we viewed the exhibits.  I was unprepared for how I would feel as I walked through the museum.  I could almost smell the smoke from the ovens.  Death was everywhere.  The clothes and the shoes and the hair…all of it belonged to lost souls.  I wanted to look away, but I forced myself to see and to hear it all.  As I left I felt as if I needed to take a bath to wash off the filth that I had just witnessed!!  This is not a place that I would even take my mature eleven-year old grandson.  I wonder why we have to see it.  Why can’t we just pass on the information?  I know…without seeing it, no one would have believed, and yet there are still those who say this never happened.  I think that everyone should go visit the Holocaust Museum that is closest to them this Memorial Day.  We need to tell their story.  The story of the children who never grew up.  The story of children separated from their parents and siblings forever.  I am going to do more research and post on my blog information concerning the Holocaust, so that we can learn together.  The museum in Dallas is at this address:

Maybe this Memorial Day we should also remember those six million Jews who lost their lives at the hands of an evil dictator, and may we vow to our God and our countrymen, NEVER TO LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!
